Yohen by Philip Kan Gotanda

Directed by Randy Clark
October 19 – November 4
Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm

James and Sumi Washington fell in love when he was a young GI serving in Japan 37 years earlier.
But when his retirement from the Army changes their daily lives, James finds his marriage to Sumi unraveling. Can a new life routine (which includes James volunteering at a local community center and Sumi exploring the art of pottery) help them repair what is broken and save what is worth keeping?

Yohen is a Japanese pottery term which refers to an “accident in the kiln firing that results in transformation of the pot.”

Come join us for this exploration of love, marriage, aging, cultural/racial bridges and the beauty that comes from creating your own art and your own life.

All proceeds from Yohen will benefit the Bryant Neighborhood Center in Tacoma. For this production only, we are giving those who purchase tickets the unique opportunity to donate at a higher Benefactor level for this worthy cause. However, if you cannot give at this level, you are most welcome to purchase your tickets at the standard price of $15. We look forward to seeing you at the show!”
