AUDITIONS for Agnes of God

Dukesbay Productions is pleased to announce auditions for Agnes of God, by John Pielmeier, directed by Nyree Martinez.

Auditions will be held Sunday, August 12 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and Monday, August 13 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Callbacks will be held an needed.

Agnes of God is set at a convent, after a novice nun named Agnes unexpectedly gives birth to a dead baby and insists that the child was the result of a virgin conception. During the ensuing investigation, a psychiatrist and the Mother Superior clash as the psychiatrist is determined to get to the bottom of the events at the convent.

Exploring themes of faith, maternal instinct, and how far people will go to preserve their chosen way of life, Agnes of God was critically acclaimed and had a successful 1982 Broadway run that was nominated for two Tony awards.

Please prepare a dramatic monologue not to exceed 2 minutes. Auditioners will then be paired up to do cold readings from the script.

THIS PRODUCTION WILL HAVE A MULTIRACIAL CAST, SO ACTORS FROM ALL ETHNIC BACKGROUNDS ARE INVITED TO AUDITION. Roles available are Dr. Martha Livingstone (a psychiatrist), Mother Miriam Ruth (the Mother Superior) and Agnes (a young postulant nun).

Interested auditioners only need to come to one of the audition dates, but should be prepared to stay up to two hours (or less) to participate in the cold readings and monologues. Please reserve an audition date by emailing Producer Aya Clark at . Bring a headshot and resume to your audition date.

Auditions will be held at The Dukesbay Theater, 508 Sixth Ave. #10, in Tacoma 98402. The theater is located on the third floor of the Merlino Art Center, in downtown Tacoma, upstairs from The Grand Cinema.

Agnes of God will run from March 1 – 17, 2019, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2:00pm.
